2018 OTIS Workgroup - "The Happy Clam"
I was selected to be a member of an OTIS (OTIS | .BLUE) workgroup based on the Google Ventures Sprint process that engages designers, engineers, marketers, finance and startup enthusiasts, who form interdisciplinary teams and experience the excitement of ideation and innovation to solve big challenges in Alaska's blue economy, the sustainable and impactful development of our vast ocean resources.
Our team developed "The Happy Clam", a portable PSP (Paralytic Shellfish Poisoning) detector in a 5 week sprint.
This product aimed to engage individuals in the detection of PSP to mitigate the health effects and possible deaths in their own communities with a social media aspect to develop community-driven data collection.
We delivered a product presentation to a panel of judges in positions of interest in Alaska's Blue Economy. Our team won the competition over 5 other workgroups producing their own product.
