Tracy Arm - North and South Sawyer Glacier

Image
Another beautiful day at Tracy Arm. We made it as far to South Sawyer glacier (top) as we did yesterday - the waterfall (second photo). However, today we got a glimpse of North Sawyer glacier (bottom) too. Take a look at the Harbor Seal that was sitting on an iceberg. The penultimate photo is a side view of Icy falls.

Tracy Arm - South Sawyer Glacier

Image
We made it much further toward the face of South Sawyer Glacier than we had previous. On a gorgeous day it was a beautiful sight. It was not very active during the 20 minutes we drifted around.

My first Tracy Arm tour of the season

Image
There was to much ice in the water to safely navigate to the face of either North or South Sawyer glacier but we still saw waterfalls and two bears. In addition to excellent views, we also saw a harbor seal resting on an iceberg and several mountain goats .

Bear on Basin Road

Mr. B. and I were lucky to spot a mother bear and her two cubs while we were hiking along the flume trail. We did not bring our camera on the hike but but as we were watching these three eat grass and climb trees we decided to hike quickly home, grab the camera, and shot these photos.

Glacier Bay - The rest of the day

Image
In the afternoon we had quite a bit of snowfall and poor visibility at Glacier Bay. Thank goodness we had playing cards and $2.50 bottles of Alaskan Ale in the bar. We could not see the John Hopkins glacier in the early afternoon. Amy shot this one of Mr. B. and I in front of Lamplugh glacier a bit later (above). As night began to fall Mr. B. shot these pictures at the John Muir glacier (below). A bit later we also saw a mama bear and her three cubs hanging out on a shore line and a couple of mooses on another shore line as we were making way back to Juneau. Here are some other Glacier Bay photos. These were all shot around Margerie glacier.
